Roger Federer Betting
When anybody mentions tennis, the one player everyone thinks of is Roger Federer. The Swiss is highly classed as the best singles tennis player ever, over players such as Pete Sampras and Bjorn Borg. This is purely because of the sheer amount of Grand Slams he has won, 16 to be exact. The Swiss wonder was born in Basel in 1981, and so has years of experience on his side against people such as Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray.
Federer’s credentials are unrivalled. He was ranked number one in the world for a record 237 weeks, and 285 total weeks. Federer is also one of 6 players to win a career Grand Slam, which is winning all 4 of the different Grand Slams in your career. He reached the semi-finals or better of 23 consecutive Grand Slams over five and a half years and amidst that, had a run of 10 consecutive Grand Slam final entries. Roger has also won four World Tour finals and 16 ATP masters’ series tournaments. Along with boasting a 701-168 (80.7%) win-loss ratio. Having won a career prize fund of over $55,000,000 it is hard to see why you wouldn’t want to bet on Roger Federer
Betting on the Roger Federer, the best tennis player ever
Although Federer is the most prestigious tennis player ever; recently he has been in a decline, losing in the quarter finals of both the French Open and Wimbledon, being beaten by Robin Soderling and Thomas Berdych respectively. This has seen betting on Roger Federer fall by a huge amount. Before these two Grand Slams, you would’ve bet on Federer to win any tournament he entered but recent form has made us all re think this and fewer people have been betting on Federer.
After winning the French Open title for the first time ever in 2009, people were starting to question whether he could do it again and so more people were betting on Federer to repeat this in 2010. In a rematch of the 2009 final Robin Soderling got the better of him in a 4 set match, seeing Soderling come from a set down to win.
The story was similar for Wimbledon, where nearly everyone was expecting Federer to repeat and win his 7th Wimbledon title and lots of people bet on Federer to win Wimbledon in 2010. After struggling through the first few rounds, Federer made it to the quarter finals where he came up against Thomas Berdych. Federer was no match, and Berdych hit Federer off the court with his powerful strokes, and so more bets on Roger Federer were wasted.
After these two shock defeats, it is hard to see how betting on Federer would be the best thing to do, seeing as other players are hitting their peak, although don’t count out Federer just yet. Federer has started a trial period with ex-Pete Sampras coach Paul Annacone in a bid to revive his career. Many people have started to bet on Roger Federer for the 2010 US Open title due to the new coach.
Don’t stop betting on Roger Federer, the best player ever always has a high chance of winning, and so betting on Roger Federer is never a mistake. A strong end to the year is almost certain, so keep betting on Roger Federer.
